Update on Baton Rouge City Court Operations

In keeping with the Governor’s proclamation, and in an effort to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of court employees and East Baton Rouge citizens the Baton Rouge City Court will be closed through April 30, 2020.  All civil and criminal hearings occurring during this time will be suspended.  Civil matters include, but are not limited to: evictions, judgment debtor rules, trials, and motion hearings.  Criminal matters include: all arraignments, discovery rules, trials, and review hearings.  All “Criminal 72-hour hearings” shall proceed and will be conducted via audio-video electronic equipment.  The Clerk’s Office will continue to accept civil fax filings during this time at the fax filing number listed on the Baton Rouge City Court’s website.
