Law Day is traditionally observed on May 1st and is a national celebration of legal education. Every year the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation organizes an in-person celebration of Law Day. Students are invited to witness a naturalization ceremony, hear from a keynote speaker, and participate in a mini mock trial experience. The 2027 Law Day event will be held on Friday, April 30th. All attendees are given learning about the law and citizenship in a fun and challenging atmosphere.
In addition to the in-person event, the BRBF sponsors essay, poster, and art contests for students of all ages. Competition rules will be posted in January.
Information for Educators
School registration for the April 30, 2027, program will open in Fall 2026. Our Law Day event is accessible for 3rd-12th grade students. The event will be held in downtown Baton Rouge at the River Center Theater and surrounding courthouses. Please check here for information about registration in the coming months.
Information for Attorneys
Attorney volunteers are needed to serve on the Law Day Committee and to help conduct mini mock trials. The Law Day Committee will begin meeting in the fall once the theme is released by the ABA. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Channing Hall at channing@brba.org.
