Mock Trial

The Region III Mock Trial competition is held in the middle of the Spring semester. It is the only state qualifying competition for Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana Parishes. The 2027 competition date will be announced in October.

Mock Trial teaches essential skills such as writing, public speaking, critical thinking, teamwork, and the art of forming a persuasive, cohesive argument. Volunteer attorney and teacher coaches prepare the students for their “day in court.”

Information for Educators

Whether your school has a long-standing team or is interested in entering for the first time this year, we are here to help make the process go smoothly. All case materials will be posted here once released. You can also log in here to submit registration forms and pay registration fees. If your school is interested in fielding a team and wants to be connected with an attorney coach, please reach out to Channing Hall at channing@brba.org.

Information for Lawyers

Attorneys can serve as coaches, committee members, and competition judges. Attorney coaches will be connected with a school team to help students prepare their case. Committee members participate in a series of pre-competition meetings to develop and implement day-of logistics. Competition judges preside over and score rounds.
