Wills for Heroes
The Young Lawyers Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association, in cooperation with the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation Pro Bono Project, sponsors the Wills for Heroes Program in Baton Rouge. Wills for Heroes is a national initiative that provides wills at no cost to first responders (law enforcement officers, fire fighters and EMS). Volunteer attorneys prepare notarial wills, powers of attorney and living wills at each event. Wills for Heroes events are held twice a year in Baton Rouge.
Mission For Mark Cancer Initiative
The Mission For Mark Cancer Initiative provides free wills and powers of attorney to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer or another debilitating illness. Held at Baton Rouge General Medical Center, the event is a partnership between the Baton Rouge Bar Association/Foundation and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, connecting participants with legal resources during a difficult time.
Community Wills Events
The Baton Rouge Bar Association and Baton Rouge Bar Foundation partner with Envision Baton Rouge, Appleseed and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services to provide free wills and powers of attorney to members of the community. These events are held throughout the year and give participants the opportunity to complete important legal documents with the guidance of volunteer attorneys.
