The Baton Rouge Bar Foundation’s Youth Education Programs were established to fulfill our goal to “educate the youth of our community about the legal system and their role in it.” BRBF Youth Education programs provide educators with innovative and interactive ways of bringing civics, free enterprise and law studies to life while teaching life skills and basic rights to our youth.

Mock Trial
Mock Trial teaches essential skills such as writing, public speaking, critical thinking, teamwork, and the art of forming a persuasive, cohesive argument. Volunteer attorney and teacher coaches prepare the students for their “day in court.”
Law Day
Law Day is traditionally observed on May 1st and is a national celebration of legal education. Every year the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation organizes an in-person celebration of Law Day. Students are invited to witness a naturalization ceremony, hear from a keynote speaker, and participate in a mini mock trial experience. The 2027 Law Day event will be held on Friday, April 30th. All attendees are given learning about the law and citizenship in a fun and challenging atmosphere.
Teen Court
Our flagship program, Teen Court, allows students to experience the ins and outs of a trial while serving their peers. Teen volunteers from area schools serve as prosecutors, defense attorneys, bailiffs, and jury members and are responsible for trying misdemeanor cases. The teenaged jury sentences their peers to community service, educational courses, and future terms as a teen court juror. Teen Court is also a great way to earn community service hours.
