Self Help Resource Center to receive award
The Self Help Resource Center of Baton Rouge is the recipient of the 2013 Friend of Pro Bono Award. Open two days a week and located at East Baton Rouge Parish Family Court, this program is a joint venture of the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation, East Baton Rouge Parish Family Court, Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, Southern University Law Center, LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center and the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society. The center does not provide direct legal services, but rather it offers access to legal information, court-approves forms and community resources to self-represented litigants in the East Baton Rouge Parish Family Court. Pro Bono Coordinator Emily Chambers lines up volunteers and assists with the smooth running of the Self Help Resource Center.
The 2013 LSBA Pro Bono Publico and Children's Law Awards ceremony will be held at the Louisiana Supreme Court in New Orleans Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 5 p.m.
