SLLS seeks attorneys to fill several positions
Southeast Louisiana Legal Services will be hiring new attorneys in the near future.

The program has offices in Baton Rouge, Covington, Hammond, Harvey, Houma and New Orleans. Due to funding cuts, SLLS is having to reduce the size of its staff. however, several attorneys decided to accept other positions to avoid being laid off. Several positions are available, and they will first be offered to staff who would lose their jobs, unless they decide to move. However, SLLS expects that some of the positions will remain available and new staff will be hired. The available positions are as follows:

General Staff Attorney (foreclosure, consumer, domestic, housing, etc.) - HOUMA OFFICE
Child in Need of Care Attorney - HOUMA OFFICE
Domestic Attorney - BATON ROUGE OFFICE
Domestic Attorney - ORLEANS OFFICE

All positions are full-time and do not permit the outside practice of law except under very limited circumstances (one being if someone already has an outside practice, they can close it as long as they do expeditiously). The starting salary is $39,000 to $48,000, depending on experience. Spanish-English bilingualism is a plus that receives extra compensation.

Application is made by sending a resume and cover letter to Brian D. Lenard, Executive Director, Program Operations, at Applicants should advise if they want to limit consideration to a particular office. SLLS will know which positions are available within the next month.
